Holiday Amaryllis Bulb
  • Remove bulb from green tissue paper
  • Fill round bottom of vase with water – place bulb in vase, pointy side up.
  • Water should only be touching the very bottom of the bulb and should not be around the bulb in the column of the vase, with exception of the very bottom of the bulb. The bulb itself does not like to be wet. Once roots grow, they are the only part that needs to be in water.
  • Place in very bright light indoors
  • Bloom will appear in 8-10 weeks from being placed in the vase with water
CARE FOR YOUR AMARYLLIS
  • Keep amaryllis bulb away from pets
  • If the bulb and vase is not in enough light it will cause the stalks to grow too tall and may result in the vase becoming tippy as the large blooms appear. If this happens you can gently add small stones or pebbles to the bottom of the vase to anchor it more steady.
  • You can also cut the long stalk that has the flowers and place it in a separate vase of water to enjoy.
  • You will most likely have 3-4 blooms per stalk and may end up having two stalks. You can gently trim off a bloom as it withers after bloom
  • At any time if the water becomes discolored or begins to have an odor, most likely because H2O it is too far up the side of the bulb, you can gently tip out the water and add fresh water to the bottom round of the vase
KEEPING YOUR AMARYLLIS BULB
  • You can compost your bulb after the stalk(s) are done blooming.
  • Amaryllis bulbs grown in water are generally not successful for reblooming in successive years
